To increase cargo security, Relcor asked Brady to help engineer a label material that would provide an added level of protection to Relcor's tamper-evident security seals, which comply with ISO/PAS 17712 "High Security" seal specifications. The Brady Brand Protection Team designed and manufactured the label material to meet Relcor's unique specifications, creating a material that includes several levels of authenticity and tamper evidence. The label material withstands varying weather elements, is laser printable, and adheres well to cargo shipping containers. Using this material, Relcor developed proprietary software to print the two-part Total Guardian security label, to complement their line of security seals. |

The Total Guardian label has two parts, each printed with a picture of the security seal and its corresponding unique serial number. The larger label is applied to the container between the door and the frame. The smaller label is affixed to shipping documents. At each point along the supply chain, the container can be checked to verify that the seal exactly matches the image and serial number on the two labels. The actual picture of the seal on the Total Guardian label prevents an individual from duplicating the originally applied seal with another seal of a different type and color. Perpetrators are more likely to target containers without these added security features. |

For customers who must comply with C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) regulations that require sending an electronic notification to U.S. Customs, Relcor developed the complete Cargo Security System. This system includes Relcor's Series 9 Perfect Guardian Seal, the Total Guardian Label, and the Relcor E label, which is contained on a USB Flash Memory Stick. The memory stick allows the user to select a specific seal's serial number, and the corresponding container number is entered into an email. The information is then emailed to security personnel at the ports of embarkation and entry, the vessel carrier, the customs authorities at the country of entry, and the consignee of the shipment. The email provides the recipients a complete picture of the Relcor seal, security label, and the corresponding serial number originally applied to the container. The Cargo Security System allows international shippers to let their U.S. consignees know that containers have been properly secured, reducing the chances of an inspection by U.S. Customs, which could delay the delivery of the shipment up to several weeks. |
